If you are the noncustodial parent and your circumstances have changed, the courts understand that situations will change during the lifetime of the parent. You have the option to seek a modification of the your original child support obligation if you can demonstrate a significant change in circumstances. A loss of a job, health problems resulting in high medical bills, or a decrease in salary all constitute a significant change in circumstances.
